About the Role:
The University of Central Florida is seeking a skilled Plumber III to join our Facilities Operations team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, functionality, cleanliness, efficiency, and attractiveness of the campus living and learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled work or tasks assigned by the supervisor, focusing on preventive (PM) and predictive maintenance (PDM) to proactively identify and prevent potential failures.
- Execute tasks in skilled trades such as heating and plumbing, including installation, maintenance, testing, and calibration of plumbing components for water, gas, air, and sewer systems.
- Use camera equipment to monitor and troubleshoot sewage systems, locate and correct plumbing failures, repair and install backflow preventers, and perform emergency plumbing repairs.
- Assist with tasks performed by central shops, contractors, other zones, and departments, as well as events on campus.
- Complete work orders promptly, recording labor hours, action codes, shop stock, and trade notes.
Requirements:
- Licensed as a plumber in the State of Florida and 4 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience with a focus on commercial and/or corporate environments and various plumbing systems.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing urgent requests and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong working knowledge of plumbing trades, tools, materials, and safety procedures.
- Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to accurately manage inventory.
- Capable of applying critical thinking skills and working independently with minimal supervision.
- Proven leadership abilities, including experience in delegating tasks, training, and motivating team members from various backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders in a professional manner.
- Experience reading blueprints and using electrical meters.
- Familiarity with various computer programs, including Microsoft Office and the Integrated Work Management System (IWMS) or similar software.
- Experience operating electronic equipment, comprehending standard safety procedures, and utilizing telecommunication devices.
