Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervising Pharmacist to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and overseeing the day-to-day operations of our pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage the activities of pharmacy staff, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as The Joint Commission (TJC) standards.
  • Coordinate performance improvement activities to ensure that our pharmacy services meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Monitor and analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.
  • Provide consultative services to clinical staff and hospital employees, ensuring that they have the necessary information and support to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare providers and other stakeholders to ensure that our pharmacy services meet the needs of our patients and customers.
Requirements
  • Unrestricted, active Texas State Board of Pharmacy License.
  • Current knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to the practice of pharmacy.
  • Knowledge of procedures and laws pertaining to the receipt, storage, and dispensing of drugs and vaccines.
  • Ability to manage a diverse workforce, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and clerical staff.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain detailed records, files, and reports.
  • Ability to type accurately based on work requirements.
  • Ability to review medication orders for safety and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision and work cooperatively with facility and pharmacy staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a pharmacy setting.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy computer software and systems.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Spanish, orally and written.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize tasks effectively. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.

Language

This position requires fluency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
