Job Summary

The Clinical Professional Development Specialty Educator is a key role in enhancing professional practice and quality patient care in the identified specialty throughout hospitals in their assigned division. This position requires deep subject matter expertise in specialty nursing and provides evidence-based, quality educational programs and activities that promote professional competency for nursing, inter-professional, and non-licensed clinical staff in the identified specialty setting.

Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements orientation/onboarding programs to promote employee retention and facilitate a positive learning environment.
  • Conducts orientation and participates in the development, coordination, and management of competency programs.
  • Identifies learning needs of the identified specialty staff through on-site review or metrics and develops activities to achieve specific outcomes related to identified deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skill, and practice.
  • Plans educational content delivery that encourages learner engagement and assesses practice gaps.
  • Collaborates with the clinical education team to evaluate and adjust educational programs based on evaluations and feedback.
  • Participates in lifelong learning and utilizes the novice to expert continuum when developing staff.
  • Monitors practices or operations with reference to laws, regulations, guidelines, or industry practices to assess compliance, risk, or exposure and communicates key performance indicators for clinical education service line within their division.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or other clinical field required.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or other clinical field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in clinical education required.
  • 3+ years' experience in nursing specialty in an acute care hospital required.
  • Currently licensed as appropriate to education in the state of practice in accordance with law and regulation required.
  • Basic Life Saving (BLS) required.
  • Specialty certification as recognized by the American Nurse Credentialing Center required.
  • Certification as NPD Practitioner highly preferred.
