About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Project Team Lead to join our team at Johnson Controls International. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for the overall execution and performance of mechanical retrofit projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Planning and Execution: Plan, execute, and control assigned projects to ensure timely completion and financial results.
  • Project Coordination: Provide project coordination for day-to-day activities of Mechanics and sub-contractors, ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Estimating and Proposal Development: Develop and present proposals to customers, and provide mechanical project estimating and estimating reviews.
  • Technical Resource: Act as a technical resource for Sales, providing expertise and support for project development efforts.
  • Project Safety and Compliance: Ensure overall project safety program compliance, and oversee the mechanical retrofit process to ensure it is performed in accordance with Johnson Controls standard practices.
  • Resource Management: Recruit, hire, and supervise resources to staff the project team, and interface with the Truck-Based team(s) to control manpower to proper staffing levels.
  • Financial Management: Analyze financial reporting systems and project schedules to proactively address potential problems and manage risk, and investigate solutions and establish project recovery plans.
  • Communication and Reporting: Use Johnson Controls standard tracking and reporting tools to effectively communicate project progress and financial status to management, and provide ongoing cost and estimate analysis reporting.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Develop and maintain viable long-term relationships with customers and subcontractors, and ensure transition to appropriate Johnson Controls Truck-based team is achieved.
Requirements
  • Technical Expertise: Eight or more years of comprehensive, technical, and operational knowledge of the service business, particularly related to smaller fast-track retrofit, remodel, and tenant improvement types of projects.
  • Leadership Experience: Leads assigned Mechanics on a portfolio of projects typically $3-4M in revenue.
  • Education: Two to four years of engineering or trade school training, such as an engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Installation and Service Experience: Installation and service experience related to complex HVAC mechanical systems and equipment is desired.
