Position Overview:
The Lead Automation Solutions Engineer is tasked with overseeing the development, direction, and management of engineering methodologies and toolsets, including program libraries utilized in water and wastewater automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
This role encompasses the coordination and integration of various technical functions within automation engineering teams, alongside providing essential engineering design support to the sales department.


Reporting Structure:
Reports to the Operations Manager.

Essential Duties:
1. Strategically plan, organize, and direct engineering activities, ensuring adherence to standards and quality benchmarks.
2. Indirectly lead engineering processes and execution strategies.
3. Facilitate the growth of integrated SCADA systems through engineering leadership, training, and support for engineering staff.
4. Identify and address critical technical challenges and risks, providing necessary resources for resolution.
5. Mentor and coach junior engineers within the team.

6. Manage engineering processes and implement objectives to standardize design and execution methods.

7. Assist in quantifying project resources and drafting specialized project proposals.

8. Design and implement communication network standards for SCADA RTUs, including cellular and RF technologies.

9. Develop and maintain template projects for water and wastewater RTUs.

10. Create PLC programs for control and data acquisition, along with HMI applications.

11. Design control system circuits and specify necessary hardware components.

12. Prepare Functional Descriptions, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and Operations & Maintenance Manuals as required.

13. Generate process documentation to meet internal compliance standards.

14. Regularly review and enhance the training curriculum for newly onboarded Automation Engineers in PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming.


Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
2. A minimum of five years of experience in engineering or related roles within the SCADA domain, specifically in water and wastewater treatment.
3. Proven ability to lead technical teams on large-scale, complex projects.
4. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
5. Strong organizational and time management skills with a keen attention to detail.
6. Proficiency in Allen-Bradley and Modicon PLC programming, HMI software, and Ignition is preferred.
7. Familiarity with SCADA software is advantageous.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Valid Driver's License is required. Occasional travel may be necessary based on project requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Errors:
Potential errors may be challenging to detect, such as recommending unsuitable equipment, which could lead to excessive costs or inadequate production over time.

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, and respond to inquiries from customers or business stakeholders.

Mathematical Skills:
Competence in basic arithmetic operations and the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

Computer Skills:
Proficiency in PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming software, AutoCAD, SQL Database, Excel, and Word Processing software is essential.

Confidential Data:
Handle confidential data related to development projects and profit margins, with potential implications for the company's interests if disclosed.

Security Clearance:
Must be able to pass a government background check for access to restricted areas.

Physical Demands:
The physical requirements for this role include regular sitting, talking, hearing, standing, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision.
