Detention Officer

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Detention Officer to join our team at Sandoval County, NM. As a Detention Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of inmates, staff, and visitors within our correctional facility.

• Security and Surveillance: Monitor inmate behavior, conduct regular checks on pods and cells, and respond to emergencies as needed.
• Meal Service and Hygiene: Serve meals to inmates, collect trays, and distribute hygiene and commissary items.
• Escort and Transportation: Escort inmates to various locations, including medical appointments, visits, and court proceedings.
• Searches and Inspections: Conduct searches of cells, pods, and facility areas for contraband and ensure the safety and security of inmates and staff.
• Medical Support: Assist medical staff in distributing medications, monitoring inmate movement, and ensuring the safe administration of medication.
• Documentation and Reporting: Complete daily activity logs, documentation of LOS logs, and other reports as required.
• Booking and Release Procedures: Perform booking intake and release procedures, take pictures, and search inmates' criminal history files.
• Operational Support: Operate the master control panel, pod control boards, and answer telephones in the control room.

• Education: High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Certifications: Valid New Mexico Driver's License, Detention/Corrections Certification in the State of New Mexico, CPR/First Aid/AED, and Mental Health First Aid.
• Background Investigation: Pass a background investigation, including criminal history, employment references, credit history, verification of US citizenship, and pre-employment interview.
• Pre-Employment Screening: Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and pre-employment physical.
