We are seeking a part-time Psychology Instructor to join our team at Kern Community College District. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of Psychology courses in the Rising Scholars Program.
Job Summary:The Psychology Instructor will be expected to provide instruction in a full range of Psychology courses, including teaching at other campus sites, day, evening or weekend classes, large classes, distance learning, and multiple teaching methodologies. The successful candidate will also be responsible for participating in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Behavioral Science department, maintaining subject matter currency, developing and revising curriculum, using computer and multimedia technology, assessing student learning and program level outcomes, and collegially participating in department, college, and discipline-specific professional activities.
Responsibilities:- Teach a range of Psychology courses, including introductory and advanced courses
- Develop and implement curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities
- Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Behavioral Science department
- Maintain subject matter currency and stay current with developments in the field of Psychology
- Assess student learning outcomes and program level outcomes
- Use computer and multimedia technology to enhance teaching and learning
- Collegially participate in department, college, and discipline-specific professional activities
- Master's in Psychology or a related field
- OR - Bachelor's in Psychology and Master's in Counseling, Sociology, Statistics, Neuroscience, or Social Work
- OR - The equivalent
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
- Experience teaching Psychology courses at the community college level
- Experience developing and implementing curriculum
- Experience with computer and multimedia technology
- Experience with assessment and evaluation of student learning outcomes
