Fitness Class Leader

The YMCA of Greater Hartford is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Group Exercise Instructor to join our team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about fitness and education to teach safe and effective group exercise classes that promote total fitness development for members.

As a Group Exercise Instructor, you will be responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image, and core values of the YMCA of Greater Hartford are conveyed through your teaching and interactions with members.

1. Class Instruction: Conduct group exercise classes according to the YMCA of Greater Hartford Program Quality Guidelines, as well as the specific class format.
2. Professional Development: Expand your knowledge by seeking out and attending at least one YMCA training or other approved training in the health and fitness industry.
3. Safety and Supervision: Supervise class participants and activities to ensure safety and report any irregularities to supervisor immediately.
4. Member Engagement: Acknowledge new members by addressing their concerns, informing and educating them on YMCA's programs.
5. Program Promotion: Maintain active interest in and knowledge of current branch programs and shares information with members and community.

• Certifications: Possess and maintain current CPR certifications and Association Pre-Practicum approved. National certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification.
• Experience: At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes preferred.

We offer a competitive salary range of $40,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience.
