About the Job

The State of Oregon is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide primary care and medical management to adults in custody at the Deer Ridge Correctional Institution in Madras, Oregon.

Responsibilities

  • Examine patients for signs of malformation or disease, including evaluation of the heart, lungs, and gastrointestinal system.
  • Evaluate patients for masses and enlargement in major organs and glands.
  • Perform venipuncture and order laboratory studies.
  • Interpret results of laboratory studies and develop treatment plans.
  • Treat infections, sprains, and simple fractures.
  • Suture wounds not involving major blood vessels, nerves, or tendons.
  • Prescribe antibiotics and other medications as authorized.
  • Refer cases to physicians and healthcare specialists when necessary.

Requirements

  • A current Nurse Practitioner's license and Registered Nurse license issued by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
  • Requested knowledge in diagnostic techniques, nursing principles and practices, current treatment for common human diseases, and human growth and behavior.
  • Requested skills in therapeutic treatments, patient assessment, and communication.
