This role entails the assessment and rectification of electrical system circuit malfunctions, ensuring repairs adhere to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards. The technician will be responsible for identifying issues within various vehicle electrical systems, mending damaged electrical components, and upholding the functionality of electrical repair tools for an automotive production entity.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver on-site vehicle repair services during weekdays and select weekends at an OEM vehicle assembly site, with shift hours potentially spanning 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts based on a rotating schedule.
- Diagnose electrical complications and implement appropriate solutions.
- Provide on-site management with repair time estimates.
- Repair or replace defective wiring, connectors, or electrical systems.
- Install new vehicle wiring systems in accordance with OEM specifications.
- Address and troubleshoot immobilizer and alarm systems.
- Service electrical automotive components.
- Maintain and repair electrical systems on new OEM vehicles.
- Ensure a tidy working environment.
- Complete job documentation and manage related paperwork.
- Guide and mentor fellow repair staff to enhance their comprehension of vehicle electrical systems and subsystems.
- Demonstrate effective methods for diagnosing and rectifying deficiencies in vehicle electrical systems and subsystems.
- Conduct root cause analyses to accurately determine the origins of vehicle issues.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert, interpreting vehicle electrical system architectures and schematics for other repair personnel.
- Communicate insights and lessons learned with site leadership and repair teams promptly.
- Occasional travel may be required to various work sites.
- At least 5 years of experience as an electrical repair technician.
- In-depth knowledge of contemporary vehicular electrical systems.
- Capability to work in confined spaces within vehicles.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a standing or crouched position for extended periods.
- Skill in distinguishing subtle color variations.
- Proven expertise in automotive systems from an advanced diagnostics perspective.
- Proficiency in using a digital multimeter, OEM diagnostic scan tools, and other automotive diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to facilitate one-on-one and small group discussions effectively.
- Competence in interpreting early engineering-level electrical schematic diagrams.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License.
- ASE certifications.
- Experience in a supervisory or lead technician role.
- Background in automotive electrical schematic development.
- Experience with Automotive Technical Assistance Centers.
- Associate's Degree or Certificate in Automotive Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
