Nutritionist II

This position is responsible for providing nutrition education and services to eligible participants in the New Mexico WIC Program. The successful candidate will assess participants' nutrition risk, prescribe food packages, and provide one-on-one and group nutrition education. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of nutrition and health education principles, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Assess participants' nutrition risk and prescribe food packages
• Provide one-on-one and group nutrition education, including breastfeeding promotion and support
• Identify the need for individual care plans and implement them for low-risk participants
• Refer participants to other health and social services and provide follow-up to referrals
• Document nutrition services provided, including referral and follow-up to referrals

• Bachelor's degree in a social, community, health, education, or nutritional field
• Two years of experience in a related field, including experience in entering and retrieving data from multiple information systems
• Fluency in both English and Spanish
• Valid Driver's License and Defensive Driving Course Certification

This position is performed in an office setting with exposure to visual/video display terminal and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Extended periods of driving and the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds may be required. Potential exposure to communicable diseases and moderate office noise, heat, cold, and smells.

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
