Medical Assistant

The Certified Medical Assistant will collaborate with patients, physicians, and healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care at Community Health Program Inc's Berkshire County practices. This role requires a pleasant and welcoming personality, with the ability to travel to various sites as needed. The successful candidate will contribute to a caring, collaborative, and innovative work environment, supporting the organization's mission, vision, and values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and escort patients to exam rooms, preparing them for visits and accurately recording vital signs.
- Perform patient intake, assisting providers in directing patient care according to written protocols.
- Assist providers with exams, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic treatments as requested.
- Direct patients following visits, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
- May perform EKGs on selected patients, prepare laboratory requests, and deliver specimens to designated areas.
- Retrieve lab results and x-ray reports, maintaining accurate records and labels.
- Clean and restock exam rooms as needed, maintaining a clean and organized environment.
- Administer vaccines (if certified) and maintain professional certification and registration.
- Update service profiles to accommodate provider scheduling needs, answer and screen outside calls, and provide information to callers.
- Perform clerical duties as requested, communicating with outside agencies as directed by providers.
- Answer patient calls and messages, ensuring timely responses to their issues and inquiries.
- Pre-register patients at the time of appointment scheduling, accurately obtaining information to ensure proper triage.
- Cross-train to provide backup patient services and reception duties.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, with completion of an accredited Certified Medical Assistant program.
- Medical office experience and electronic medical records experience are a plus.
- Massachusetts Certified Medical Assistant Certification is required.
