Position Summary
Department Manager - Oversees the food service program at a single location, providing leadership, support, and guidance to ensure compliance with food quality standards, inventory management, food safety protocols, and customer service expectations. This includes adherence to facility menus and relevant federal, state, and local regulations, in line with our established policies and procedures to guarantee quality dining services at all times.
Reporting - Responsible for maintaining records of income and expenditures, food supplies, personnel, and equipment in a report format for HCSG and facility management.
Training - Overseeing all training, quality control, and in-service education for staff to meet HCSG standards is a critical responsibility of the Manager, which includes regular kitchen assessments using Quality Control Indicators (QCIs) for documentation.
The Manager must also be capable of performing the essential functions of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher roles to provide training and assistance during staff shortages.
Communication - Effectively convey all directives from client managers, building occupants, and administrators to HCSG staff.Safety - Utilize protective gear for all relevant tasks. Responsible for the safe and proper mixing and use of cleaning solutions while adhering to all safety protocols. Timely reporting of equipment or cleaning product needs and malfunctions to supervisors is essential. Ensure compliance with established safety and quality standards.
Follow infection control and universal precautions policies to maintain a sanitary environment at all times.
Adhere to proper reporting, isolation, and handwashing procedures.Punctuality - Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality. Complete assigned tasks according to schedule. Respond promptly to the paging system.
Customer Experience - Represent HCSG positively by following instructions and maintaining courteous interactions with supervisors, co-workers, and client staff.
Resident Experience - Engage in positive, respectful, and tactful interactions with residents, staff, and facility guests.
Qualifications
Exhibit a positive attitude with the ability to follow both oral and written instructions, and perform routine, repetitive tasks consistently.
After completing all necessary training, utilize leadership skills to fulfill all responsibilities independently and safely.
An associate's degree or higher in food service management or hospitality, with coursework in food service or restaurant management from an accredited institution is preferred.
Proof of or successful completion of an approved Conference of Food Protection (CFP) Food Protection Manager (FPM) course within the first 14 days of employment is mandatory.
Certification as a Dietary Manager (CDM) course participant, or as required by state and county law.
Successful completion of the eLuminate Food Service Manager (FSM) and Long-Term Care Food Service (LTC-FSM) certifications within the first 60 days of employment is required.
Basic computer skills with the ability to maintain records and complete reports as necessary, including web-based reporting.
Completion of an approved sanitation and safety course may be required.
Must be able to report to work as scheduled and on time.
Compliance with COVID-19 Vaccination Policies, as mandated by state, local, and/or clients.
Must be able to lift/carry a maximum of 50 pounds, push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds, and stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.
Must reside within the service area.
