Position Summary:

The Antibiotic Resistance Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, implementation, and advocacy of antibiotic stewardship and resistance initiatives. This role involves collaboration with healthcare facilities and public health partners, leveraging resources such as National Healthcare Safety Network surveillance and electronic laboratory reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and disseminate antimicrobial stewardship resources to healthcare professionals and the community.
  • Conduct outreach sessions with healthcare facilities, associations, coalitions, and infection control networks to enhance AU/AR surveillance efforts.
  • Lead antimicrobial stewardship subcommittee meetings and associated initiatives.
  • Perform evaluations, generate reports, and create dashboards related to AU/AR activities.
  • Support outbreak response and management of healthcare-associated infections (HAI) and antibiotic-resistant pathogens, including coordination of response efforts and preparation of final reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of CDC grant progress reports and renewal applications.
  • Collaborate with Bureau of Public Health Laboratories (BPHL) on confirmatory testing and addressing unusual isolates or clusters, while providing updates on testing concerns.
  • Engage with state and local laboratories and regional antibiotic resistance laboratories to ensure accurate and timely laboratory testing and reporting, focusing on carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE).
  • Provide support and collaboration for the HAI Prevention Program.

Qualifications:

A Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, or a related health field is required.

Preferred experience includes:

  • Background in Antibiotic Resistance and Infection Control.
  • Three years of experience in:
    • Public health or healthcare settings focusing on drug resistance activities.
    • Epidemiology and healthcare-associated infections.
    • Infection prevention and control principles based on recognized guidelines.
    • Utilizing the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) system.
    • Data analysis software such as SAS, SPSS, Access, and SQL.
