Job Summary

We are seeking an Analytical Chemist to join our team at the Materials and Fuels Complex Research department. As an Analytical Chemist, you will be responsible for conducting chemical measurements to determine the identity of chemical materials and the composition of compounds, solutions, and mixtures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research to improve existing and develop new capabilities and methodologies for reviewing and interpreting data in the area of analytical chemistry.
  • Design and participate in experiments to acquire data to support scientific improvements and evaluate new research concepts.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, operations, and other technical resources.
  • Be a technical liaison with other divisions with regards to analytical capabilities.
  • Identify new research opportunities and work with other staff to develop concepts for new products and services.
  • Communicate results to internal and external sponsors through written technical reports and oral presentations.
  • Create reports and provide materials for documentation.
  • May develop/recommend changes in program processes.
  • Ensure that onsite support practices meet the requirements of the quality assurance plan and that quality control (QC) provision requirements are implemented at required frequencies.
Qualifications
  • Level 2: Bachelor's degree or higher in Nuclear Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Geochemistry, Material Science and 2 years relevant experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Level 3: Master's degree or higher in Nuclear Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Geochemistry, Material Science and 5 years relevant experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience in academia, private or nuclear industry.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
