Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Superintendent to join our team at The Cliffs. As a key member of our golf course maintenance team, you will be responsible for assisting in all facets of golf course maintenance under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in coordinating daily scheduling of crew duties.
  • Supervise and assist in application of pesticides and fertilizers.
  • Operate all equipment associated with golf maintenance.
  • Identify problems and make recommendations to Superintendent.
  • Maintain/inspect golf course grounds, clubhouse grounds, landscaping and maintenance equipment as assigned.
  • Conduct and maintain inventory control practices.
  • Assist in hiring golf and landscape personnel.
  • Train all employees in all levels of golf course operation.
  • Attend approved conferences, workshops, and meetings to keep abreast of current information and developments.
Requirements
  • 2- or 4-year degree in Turf Management or Agronomy.
  • 1-2 years experience or 2 internships in Golf Maintenance.
  • Experience in managing cool season turf in the transition zone is a plus.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must have strong communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees.
  • Sound water management skills/knowledge.
  • Ability to identify pest threats on the golf course.
  • Good organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Knowledge of the game of golf and its rules.
  • Ability to run facility in Superintendents absence.
  • High degree of focus on details and a commitment to excellence.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays with little or no notice.
  • Pesticide License preferred.
