Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Line Cook to join our team at Scripps College. As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food to the highest standards, ensuring that every dish that leaves the kitchen meets our quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook food to order, using a variety of cooking techniques and ingredients.
  • Work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of food preparation and inventory, ensuring that all supplies are ordered and stocked as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to improve cooking skills and knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment, preferably in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures, including HACCP guidelines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, communicating clearly and respectfully with colleagues.
  • Basic math skills, including knowledge of fractions and measurements.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and to stand for long periods of time.
Working Conditions

The Line Cook will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with exposure to heat, cold, and noise. The position requires standing for long periods of time, lifting and carrying heavy objects, and working in a team environment.
