Data Scientist

The State of Georgia - Georgia Student Finance Commission is seeking a skilled Data Scientist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of data science applications, visualizations, reports, and supporting ETL processes.

This position requires a highly motivated and goal-oriented individual with a minimum of three years of experience in data science applications, particularly in SAS programming. You will work under general supervision, designing, coding, testing, modifying, and debugging computer software, as well as researching and analyzing program or systems problems and developing program documentation.

You will translate business requirements into development activities in secure and maintainable code and develop ad hoc reporting and analysis using data stored in Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases. Your excellent time management skills and ability to work well in both a team environment and a sole contributor role are essential.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or a related scientific or technical degree; or equivalent experience.
• Minimum three years' experience in data science applications, with strong preference for SAS programming experience.
• Minimum three years' experience in Python coding.
• Minimum three years' experience in database coding.
• Strong knowledge of and experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming principles and Unix shell for tasks in Linux environments.
