About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Community Support Specialist to join our team. As a Shelter Advocate, you will play a critical role in providing support, crisis intervention, and safety planning to individuals and families who have experienced domestic abuse and/or sexual assault.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate assistance and support to victims of domestic and sexual violence, including emergency shelter residents, walk-ins, and those calling our crisis line(s).
  2. Holistic Advocacy: Offer comprehensive advocacy services, including safety planning, education, community connections, housing, financial, and legal support (excluding legal advice).
  3. Follow-up and Referral: Complete follow-ups with police reports/calls, assist victims/survivors with initial needs, and provide resources for ongoing support.
  4. Day-to-Day Duties: Perform daily tasks in the shelter, such as cleaning bedrooms, organizing food orders, assisting residents with chores, and maintaining general cleanliness.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • One to two years of related experience working with victims of domestic and/or sexual violence.
  • Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
