Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in assisting physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries. You will operate radiographic equipment to produce high-quality images of the body, ensuring optimal diagnostic quality of patient care. Your expertise will be essential in performing specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures, preparing patients for imaging, and adjusting equipment controls to produce accurate images.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic radiology procedures, including CT scans, to assist physicians in diagnosing diseases and injuries.
  • Prepare patients for imaging procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Adjust equipment controls to produce high-quality images, taking into account patient size, weight, and the area of the body being imaged.
  • Operate mobile radiologic equipment in operating rooms, emergency rooms, or at patients' bedsides.
  • Assist radiologists and other qualified physicians in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
  • Prepare images for reading by radiologists or requesting physicians, ensuring proper identification and quality control.
  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
  • Complete forms and maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed.
  • Orient new hires and train students in diagnostic imaging procedures.
Requirements
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a Specialty CT or one year of experience in a Specialty with an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification in that Specialty.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate (California) and Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California) required.
  • Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information to individuals and groups with varying knowledge of Radiology services.
