The Maintenance Technician for the second shift is tasked with executing a wide range of responsibilities to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility machinery in accordance with safety, predictive, and productive maintenance protocols to support the achievement of organizational objectives.
Your Contributions Will Include:
- Evaluating test outcomes, machine error notifications, and data from operators to identify equipment issues.
- Cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting machinery and equipment components.
- Dismantling machinery to extract parts for repairs.
- Inspecting components for defects such as damage and excessive wear.
- Monitoring and testing machinery operations to diagnose issues using voltmeters and other diagnostic tools.
- Operating newly repaired machinery to confirm the effectiveness of repairs.
- Reassembling equipment post-inspection, testing, or repairs.
- Troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and maintaining the operational state of industrial production and processing machinery, including but not limited to hydraulic and pneumatic systems, motors, gearboxes, VFD/HMI/Servo control devices, conveyor systems, industrial printers, valves, photo eyes, switches, heat exchangers, and level controls.
- Repairing and replacing defective or malfunctioning machinery components.
- Consulting blueprints and manufacturer manuals to ensure proper installation and operation of machinery.
- Operating and supporting industrial refrigeration, boiler, and utility operations.
- Cutting and welding metal to mend broken parts, fabricate new components, and assemble new machinery.
- Demonstrating equipment functions and features to machine operators.
- Inputting codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery.
- Completing scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment (both planned and unplanned tasks).
- Responding to production requirements as they arise on the production floor.
- Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of maintenance records, work orders, and task logs.
- Accurately entering and recording PM (planned and unplanned activities) into SAP or other MIS/ERP systems.
- Adhering to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Complying with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Following SQF and Company GMP and 5S guidelines to ensure a safe and quality product.
- Upholding the Saputo code of ethics and actively embodying the Saputo values.
- Collaborating professionally in a team environment with colleagues and personnel from other departments.
- Performing additional duties as requested or assigned.
Ideal Candidates Will Possess:
- 1-2 years of prior industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Experience with industrial ammonia refrigeration, high-pressure boilers, and utility operations.
- Proficiency in utilizing computer-based maintenance planning/PM ERP platforms; familiarity with SAP is a plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- A strong electrical background complemented by mechanical skills; experience with computerized or automated controls and the ability to read electrical schematics is advantageous.
- Self-motivation, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work any shift, including overtime and weekends.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Professionalism and a positive representation of Saputo at all times.
- Capability to work in a manufacturing environment that includes noise, varying temperatures (hot, wet, cold, humid), and physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, stooping, and climbing stairs.
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted frequently throughout the shift.
- Experience working with chemicals, wearing personal protective equipment, and adhering to approved chemical handling procedures.
