In this pivotal role, you will take charge of providing technical guidance and strategic vision for our testing framework. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Driving the creation of comprehensive automated testing solutions, frameworks, and tools to establish resilient automated testing pipelines for the Snowflake Data Cloud.
  • Collaborating with a diverse team of seasoned professionals and emerging talents to ensure the delivery of top-tier services during our weekly releases.
  • Influencing quality and innovation across Snowflake's investments in the open data lake ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with project teams, including engineers, designers, and Technical Program Managers, to embed quality throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Provide insights and recommendations to enhance quality practices across the engineering organization.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the Quality Engineering Organization.
  • Develop and refine test plans based on feature specifications and technical discussions with engineering teams.
  • Build and maintain automation frameworks that facilitate critical user scenario testing for regression.
  • Prioritize and execute test scenarios in a Snowflake environment that mirrors customer workloads.
  • Collaborate with Support and Engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve customer-facing issues.
  • Engage with leading data lake technologies and formats, including Iceberg.
  • Expand your expertise across various analytic engines such as Spark and Trino.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of practical experience in software and quality engineering.
  • Deep understanding of quality best practices, methodologies, and techniques for continuous improvement.
  • Extensive experience in writing API smoke, regression, and end-to-end tests.
  • Knowledge of security domains including identity management, cryptography, and network security.
  • Strong database skills, particularly in SQL.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD systems like Jenkins.
  • Solid foundation in computer science principles, including object-oriented programming, data structures, and distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in API test automation.
  • Fluency in programming languages such as Java, C++, and/or Python.
  • Experience in developing effective Test and Performance tools and frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with data lake technologies (e.g., Spark, Trino, Iceberg, Delta) is preferred.
  • Experience with public cloud infrastructures (AWS, GCP, Azure), especially storage solutions, is a plus.
  • A degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
