Automotive Instructor

This is a full-time, benefited, FLSA Exempt/Professional position in the Public and Professional Services Division that reports to the Dean of the division.
Key Responsibilities- Teach credited General Automotive courses as assigned in accordance with course standards and approved syllabi.
- Prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction and deliver effective individualized programs of instruction to class members.
- Develop program and course outlines, goals, and objectives, and prepare curricula, including non-traditional content and methods to achieve the objectives and goals of students.
- Evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives, and communicate students' progress to students and appropriate personnel.
- Request and maintain supplies and equipment, and prepare required budget requests.
- Maintain program certification requirements, as appropriate, and ensure certification meets all required organizational and accreditation policies and guidelines.
- Prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports, and ensure documentation meets all required organizational and accreditation policies and state guidelines.
- Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences, and by reading professional literature in the related vocational field.
- Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area, and construct training modules, tools, materials, supplies, and equipment to comply with local, state, and federal workplace safety standards.
- Meet with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss instructional programs, curricula, and issues impacting the progress of students.
- Display a high level of effort and commitment to performing work, and operate effectively within the organizational structure.
- Assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts, and actively participate in staff and faculty meetings as needed to discuss students' progress, problems, and/or programs.
This position requires a Technical Diploma or AAT/AS/AAS in the discipline, and ASE Certification or other industry certifications. A valid Georgia driver's license is also required.
Preferred QualificationsPostsecondary teaching experience is preferred.
Work EnvironmentThis position is stationed on the Lawrenceville campus, and requires moving objects up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
