Overview:
We are looking for a committed and passionate Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to provide essential support in delivering speech and language therapy services. The SLPA will work under the guidance of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to assist students in enhancing their communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Therapeutic Support: Aid in executing tailored therapy plans established by the supervising SLP. Conduct therapy sessions with students as instructed, concentrating on the enhancement of communication, speech, and language capabilities.
- Assessment Support: Assist the SLP in performing evaluations by collecting data, administering standardized assessments, and preparing necessary materials for testing.
- Monitoring Progress: Document and track students' advancements, identifying improvements and areas needing further attention. Prepare reports and assist in adjusting therapy plans based on student outcomes.
- Collaborative Efforts: Partner with the SLP, educators, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students. Engage in team discussions and contribute to planning student objectives and interventions.
- Student Engagement: Interact with students in a supportive and encouraging manner, providing motivation and reinforcement to help them meet their therapy objectives. Address any behavioral or emotional needs related to therapy.
- Record Keeping: Maintain precise and current records of therapy sessions, student progress, and other pertinent documentation. Ensure adherence to organizational policies and state regulations.
- Resource Management: Assist in the preparation of therapy materials and resources for sessions. Organize and maintain therapy tools and supplies.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, or a related discipline.
- Certification as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) by the relevant board or eligibility to obtain.
- Valid SLPA license in California.
- Experience in a school environment is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
