Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Critical Care Nurse to join our dynamic team in the Critical Care Float Pool at Albany Medical Center. This role offers the opportunity to gain and practice critical care skills in various areas, including Neuro-Surgical Trauma ICU, Medical ICU, Coronary Care Unit, Cardiovascular ICU, and the MSICU.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments, procedures, and special tests.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' conditions.
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care.
  • Provide primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
  • Direct and guide ancillary personnel and maintain standards of professional nursing.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a professional academic nursing program with a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree.
  • Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
  • Obtain and maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of previous clinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care.
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Possess knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques.
