Nurse Infusion Specialist

This position is responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients undergoing non-chemo and chemo infusions, injections, and line insertions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of current treatment modalities and be able to apply this knowledge to patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
- Performs head-to-toe assessments on all patients and reassesses as per policy.
- Maintains medical equipment, including cleaning and disinfecting after use.
- Answers telephone calls in a professional manner and refers patient problems to office/clinic physicians.
- Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation, including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes.
- Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity, identifying and addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs.
- Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provides age-appropriate care to patients.
- Interacts professionally with patients and families, involving them in the formation of the plan of care.
- Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning.
- Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and clinical condition.
- Demonstrates knowledge of lab requirements and requisitions.
- Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Plans and provides nursing care in accordance with physician orders.
- Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
- Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
- Assists in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
- Cooperates with other personnel to achieve objectives and maintains good employee relations.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an RN nursing program.
- Current RN license in state of practice.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Chemo Certification within 6 months from ONS.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training
- Knowledge of current nursing practice, critical thinking skills, professional verbal and written communication skills, technical/computer skills, attention to detail, customer service skills, adaptability, and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
