Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Specialist to join our team at Middletown Public Schools. The successful candidate will provide guidance, support, and mentorship to students in the realm of SEL, fostering a positive and inclusive school culture that prioritizes the development of emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, and overall well-being in students.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and group mentoring sessions to students, focusing on SEL competencies such as self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
Offer guidance to teachers and staff in integrating SEL principles into their classroom practices and interactions with students.
Proactively collaborate with educators to develop and adapt SEL curriculum and resources suitable for various age groups and learning levels.
Attend workshops and training sessions to enhance understanding of SEL concepts and effective implementation strategies.
Stay up to date on the latest research and trends in SEL education, sharing relevant insights with the school community in a timely manner.
Provide emotional support and guidance to students during challenging times, acting as a resource for coping strategies and resilience-building techniques.
Collaborate with school crisis teams and administrators to address urgent SEL-related concerns.
Organize workshops and events for parents and caregivers, educating them about the importance of SEL and providing strategies for reinforcing SEL skills at home.
Proactively collaborate with community organizations to extend SEL initiatives beyond the school environment.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, counseling, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
Strong understanding of Social and Emotional Learning principles and their application in an educational setting required.
Experience in mentoring, coaching, or counseling, preferably with a focus on youth development required.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with students, staff, parents, and community partners required.
Ability to adapt and tailor SEL strategies to diverse student populations and learning environments required.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities required.
Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting students' holistic growth required.
Ability to work up to 15 hours a week required.

Salary & Compensation:
$25.00 per hour
