This role entails the responsibility and accountability for delivering exceptional patient care within a multidisciplinary team framework, utilizing the nursing process while upholding professional nursing standards.

Department Information

Department: PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)

Key Responsibilities
  1. Patient Assessment: Evaluate the patient's physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social, and educational needs, documenting responses to nursing interventions and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  2. Care Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care, including discharge planning, based on nursing standards, health center policies, and patient/family needs, while utilizing clinical and critical thinking skills.
  3. Patient Care Direction: Guide and direct patient care activities for the specified population, employing clinical reasoning and evidence-based practices.
  4. Educational Support: Facilitate learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of patients and families by assessing learning requirements and initiating tailored teaching plans.
  5. Communication: Effectively communicate significant patient changes and conditions to colleagues and multidisciplinary caregivers.
  6. Meeting Participation: Attend and engage in departmental and organizational meetings, in-services, and educational opportunities.
  7. Resource Stewardship: Manage the hospital's human and material resources effectively, meeting productivity expectations and supporting staffing needs across multiple units.
  8. Adaptability: Embrace changes in the healthcare environment, supporting technological advancements and process improvements.
  9. Problem Solving: Identify and address issues proactively, supporting initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction and clinical outcomes.
  10. Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information in both electronic and paper medical records.
  11. Supervision: Delegate and supervise tasks appropriately based on patient needs and scope of practice.
  12. Confidentiality: Uphold department confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  13. Professional Development: Engage in personal and professional growth through ongoing education and participation in departmental programs.
