Nurse Specialist in Pre-Operative Care

Job Summary
">We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as a Nurse Specialist in Pre-Operative Care. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and ensuring a smooth transition from admission to surgery.
About the Role
">- Patient Advocacy: You will act as a patient advocate, providing continuity of care designed to meet individual patient needs through collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.
- Care Coordination: You will assess the needs of individual patients, including adult, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients, and formulate a goal-directed plan of care based on determined nursing diagnoses and patient outcomes.
- Expertise in Surgical Floor Experience: You will have a minimum of two years' work experience as a staff nurse with surgical floor experience, specifically in spines and joints.
Responsibilities
">- Assessment and Planning: You will perform assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive status. You will also establish priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs and available center resources of time, personnel, equipment, and supplies.
- Implementation and Evaluation: You will implement care in a knowledgeable, skilled consistent manner in reaching the desired patient outcomes through nursing processes. You will also perform documentation duties on the floor and in the patient record, which is timely, accurate, and concise.
- Emergency Situations: You will remain calm and informed during emergency patient situations, following established protocols, and documenting events.
- Teamwork: You will work as part of a team in delivering patient care and maintain BLS and ACLS certification. You will also attend all mandatory in-services and participate in staff meetings.
Requirements
">- Licensure: You must be licensed as a registered nurse in Texas.
- Certifications: You must have BLS certification; ACLS certification or successful completion within 3 months of hire date.
- Experience: You must have a minimum of two years' work experience as a staff nurse with surgical floor experience with spines and joints.
Physical Demands
">- Mobility: You must be able to stand and/or walk at least five hours per day, lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis, and push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis.
Work Environment
">- Collaboration: You will work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care.
- Communication: You must be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Salary
">$63,500 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience.
