Key Position Details:

This role works one weekend day every week, alternating between Saturday and Sunday. The position is 0.5 FTE (40 hours per 2-week schedule) with 8/12 combo Day/Evening shifts. Benefits are eligible.

Job Description:

As a Diagnostic Imaging Assistant, you will provide safe, quality patient care while assisting technologists with patient transport and care. You will maintain electronic files, distribute patient reports, and coordinate information flow between patients and clinics. Other patient care and clerical functions will be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a liaison between physicians, clinics, and service departments
    • Enters orders and schedules exams as needed.
    • Communicates physician requests to appropriate department staff.
    • Coordinates workflow with Clinics, service departments, and physicians.
    • Prioritizes customer needs.
    • Provides information regarding special instructions, exam preps, arrival times, or special needs.
    • Keeps leadership advised of any issues or concerns.
  • Assists technologists in delivering patient care
    • Screens patients for exams.
    • Delivers necessary imaging supplies.
    • Transports, transfers, and positions patients.
    • Distributes completed exams to radiologists for interpretation.
    • Restocks and prepares exam rooms for procedures.
  • Provides image and data management
    • Ensures secure and appropriate access to patient information.
    • Documents image data release in the electronic medical record (EMR).
    • Demonstrates knowledge of the electronic storage and retrieval system (EMI).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous patient care or medical terminology experience.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required by completion of orientation within 30 days.

Physical Demands:

  • Medium Work*: Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently.
