Position Overview

As a Senior Inspector within our esteemed Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) division, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing intricate technical assignments related to field surveying and construction layout. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough documentation of contractor activities on-site.
  • Facilitate project coordination with contractors and utility representatives.
  • Prepare and maintain project field books and documentation.
  • Manage earthwork construction logbooks and associated records.
  • Perform material sampling and testing to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Assist in compiling the Final Estimate package for project completion.
  • Measure distances to confirm the accuracy of construction dimensions.
  • Verify levels, alignments, and elevations of construction installations.
  • Monitor ongoing work to ensure adherence to established procedures and material standards.
  • Collect and prepare material samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Evaluate the quality of completed installations for compliance with standards.
  • Document quantities of materials utilized during specified timeframes.
  • Maintain a daily log of construction and inspection activities, comparing progress reports.
Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • High School diploma with a minimum of 4 years of experience in DOT roadway and/or bridge construction.
  • Alternatively, a degree in Civil Engineering with one year of CEI experience in road and bridge projects, along with one year as an Engineer Intern.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to obtain Work Zone Traffic Control certification within the first six months of employment.
  • Strong teamwork capabilities.
  • Willingness to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with potential for overtime.
  • Proficiency in data entry and project record submissions using AASHTO-Ware Project and ProjectWise applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification from SCDOT or another state for Earthwork & Base Course Technician, or ability to obtain within the first 90 days.
  • Certification from SCDOT or another state for Asphalt Roadway Technician, or ability to obtain within the first 90 days.
  • Certification from SCDOT or another state for Concrete Technician Level 1 & 2, or ability to obtain within the first 90 days.
  • Certification from SCDOT or another state for ACI Field Testing Technician Grade 1, or ability to obtain within the first 90 days.
  • Must obtain SCDHEC/Clemson CEPSCI (Sediment Control Inspector) qualification or equivalent within the first six months.
