QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology.
- Current Washington State ESA certificate or ability to acquire one.
- Washington Department of Health License required.
- Experience and training related to the job requirements.
- Bilingual/Spanish speaking preferred.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA is desirable.
- Successful working experience with communicatively disabled students.
- Demonstrated organization and management skills.
- Ability to work with a variety of people in a wide range of settings.
- Knowledge of augmentative communications systems and devices.
- Good communication skills with staff and parents.
- Commitment to continued learning and personal and professional growth.
- Ability to function cooperatively and productively as a team member with demonstrated skill in communication problem solving and collaborative decision-making.
- Assess communication challenges including receptive-expressive language, articulation, voice, fluency, neuromuscular, and non-vocal.
- Document evaluations and relate the impact on the educational performance of students.
- Recommend, establish, provide, and monitor a course of intervention specific to the student's disorder.
- Prepare/conduct comprehensive speech/language services in areas of comprehension, morphology, fluency, semantics, pragmatics, voice syntax, articulation, etc.
- Maintain record-keeping and clerical system for IEP preparation and student progress.
- Provide information and consultative services relative to the management of communication disorders to the student, the multidisciplinary team, educational staff, the family, and related medical and community agencies.
- Collaborate with other educational team members.
- Provide in-service training to staff.
- Make referrals when appropriate.
- Complete audiological screenings as necessary.
- Demonstrate positive relationship skills with students, parents, and district staff.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
