Job Title: Senior Accountant

East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corp. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll for over 100 employees, coordinating accounts receivable activities, and assisting with grant and expenditure reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and coordinate bi-weekly payroll for over 100 employees, including full and part-time employees, hourly and exempt staff.
  • Determine and set up position funding and leave/benefit codes in the payroll and/or HR systems.
  • Reconcile insurance premiums with employee deductions on a regular basis.
  • Verify that timesheets have been turned in and approved, and follow up with supervisors as needed to ensure accuracy.
  • Enter salary increases in the payroll system when approved.
  • Process journal vouchers for accrued and used vacation leave on a quarterly basis.
  • Run or create payroll reports as needed for directors.
  • Process all receipts, determine funding codes, and enter deposit information in the financial system.
  • Maintain rental housing spreadsheets, documenting payments and damage charges.
  • Review accounts payable transactions, print checks, and post batches.
  • Assist with grant and other reporting, and create and maintain spreadsheets related to payroll, accounts receivable, and other fiscal items.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field with two years of previous accounting support experience, or Associate's degree in accounting/business with at least three years of related experience.
  • Previous experience with fund accounting, payroll, journal vouchers, and accounts receivable preferred.
  • Knowledge of double-entry accounting and above-average computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and financial systems.
  • Above-average math skills, excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
