JOB SUMMARY
Under the guidance of the Dining Services Director and the culinary team, the Sanitation and Utility Specialist is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the dining areas. This role involves adhering to established cleaning protocols and ensuring compliance with health regulations. Collaboration with team members is essential to facilitate efficient operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following points outline the primary responsibilities associated with this position. This list is not exhaustive, and additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.
- Arrive in appropriate attire, prepared to commence duties at the designated time; adhere to daily and weekly sanitation schedules; operate dishwashing equipment according to standard practices; manage the three-compartment sink effectively; pre-soak all soiled utensils; inspect glassware for cleanliness and ensure it is free of spots; refresh water in dishwashing and pot sinks as required; transport all sanitized items to their designated storage locations; dispose of waste and recyclable materials properly; maintain all equipment in a clean and polished condition.
- Assist culinary staff with food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and cutting; ensure all hard surfaces are swept and mopped during shifts; promptly address any spills on hard surfaces; report any broken or chipped dishware to a supervisor for disposal.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all storage areas; follow assigned cleaning tasks diligently.
- Notify the culinary team of any cleaning supplies needed to complete assigned tasks.
- Perform additional duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Basic understanding of cleaning procedures and equipment maintenance, including dish machine descaling.
- Ability to read, write, and follow both written and verbal instructions.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred, but not mandatory.
- Exhibit a positive attitude towards customer service and demonstrate a genuine interest in supporting the needs of residents.
- Capability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to reach above, below, and at shoulder height.
- Physical capability to bend, twist, and stand for extended periods.
