Job Summary

The Director of Imaging will oversee the radiology department across all sites, responsible for supervising daily technical and administrative activities, equipment ordering, and maintenance. This role requires leadership, supervision, and support to technical and support staff, as well as developing and maintaining good working relationships with nursing and care staff teams.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and supervision to technical and support staff
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to guide the Radiology Department
  • Maintain radiologic services in accordance with hospital standards and state, local, and federal guidelines
  • Ensure technical aspect of radiologic safety and recommend programming, monitoring, and location of warning or identifying devices
  • Recommend equipment modification, new equipment, and essential constructions within the department
  • Prepare the budget for the Radiology Department
  • Make recommendations regarding space and other resources required by the Radiology Department
  • Coordinate departmental purchasing and manage stock levels, storage, and utilization
  • Administer preparation of reports, documents, payroll records, statistical surveys, and other data required
  • Select employees who meet educational, training, licensure, and experience requirements for open positions
  • Makes work assignments and coordinates requests for radiologic services
  • Evaluate accuracy and technical quality of x-rays
  • Demonstrate and explain difficult or new techniques and procedures to technical staff
  • Delegate responsibility to designated staff
  • Assist radiologists with difficult radiologic procedures and perform general technical duties when workload is heavy
  • Stay current on knowledge regarding protective equipment, imaging, and computer software related to imaging services
  • Maintain quality control programs to assess the quality of care/service provided and effect change for improvement as indicated
Functional Demands

The work area is well-lit and ventilated, with regular exposure to the risks of blood-borne and airborne diseases. Contact with patients in a wide variety of circumstances is expected, as well as exposure to noise, chemicals, communicable diseases, and hazardous materials. Personal protective equipment is required as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to handle or feel objects, or controls; frequently required to walk or stand for extended periods, occasionally required to sit, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with help.
