This role is integral to the mission and objectives of Berkshire Health Systems, focusing on the delivery of high-quality laboratory services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct clinical laboratory tests and examinations.
- Ensure compliance with proficiency testing and quality control standards.
- Provide professional consultation and support for laboratory processes.
- Maintain and validate laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Oversee testing management and validation processes.
- Educate and assess students in medical technology.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of one year in an accredited laboratory setting; internship experience is applicable.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in medical technology or a related scientific field.
Completion of twelve months of clinical education in an accredited medical technology program or equivalent accepted by certification authorities.
Licensure and Certification:
Certification as a Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist through ASCP, NCA, or an equivalent CLIA-approved body.
Additional Requirements:
- Demonstrated independent judgment and initiative in organizing and planning work.
- Ability to instruct medical technology students in specimen processing and computer-related inquiries.
- Commitment to accurate specimen collection and labeling.
- Flexibility to adapt to emergency situations, including extended hours or shifts.
- Capacity to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, ensuring minimal errors.
- Strong communication skills, including proficiency in computer systems, listening, speaking, writing, and reading.
- Familiarity with Health Information Systems (HIS) and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), as well as various laboratory analyzers and equipment relevant to the position.
