Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images of Nuclear Medicine studies. This requires a strong attention to radiation safety and regulations, including proper documentation and technique when working with patients and radioactive materials. Effective communication with vendors and customers, including radiologists, is also essential. In some instances, the Specialist may train new technologists and/or Patient Coordinators.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing high-quality diagnostic images of Nuclear Medicine studies
- Ensuring patient safety, including pre-screening for contra-indications and aseptic injection technique
- Communicating effectively with customers and radiologists
- Training new technologists and/or Patient Coordinators
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred
- NMTCB or ARRT (N) certification required
- State license, as required
- CPR certification required
- Valid state driver's license, as applicable
- Ability to work at multiple locations
- Strong customer service skills
- Organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs
- Local travel may be required
- The COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment

Physical Requirements:
The Specialist may be exposed to outside weather conditions during patient transport if working on a mobile unit. The Specialist will be exposed to radioactive isotopes and ionizing radiation. May be exposed to radiation, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
More than 50% of the time:
- Sit, stand, walk
- Repetitive movement of hands, arms, and legs
- See, speak, and hear to communicate with patients
Less than 50% of the time:
- Stoop, kneel, or crawl
- Climb and balance
- Carry and lift (ability to move non-ambulatory patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or to exam)
