Job Summary

The Engineering Response Team (ERT) is responsible for protecting the work week schedule and addressing emergent issues to minimize the impact on engineering core business. As a Mechanical Systems Engineer, you will provide maintenance with field support pertaining to simple trouble shooting and lead complex troubleshooting activities with maintenance and operations. Your responsibilities will include resolving engineering technical issues within the work management process, developing temporary power and lighting plans, and reviewing schematics and logic diagrams for emergent issue support and control room alarm bypass.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to technical inquiries from maintenance and provide responses to support online work
  • Provide technical support in resolving operating challenges to the station
  • Lead complex troubleshooting teams and support simple troubleshooting activities to identify the cause of issues and prevent re-occurrence
  • Develop emergent engineering modification products to support scheduled work and operational issues
  • Develop minor modification packages to resolve long-standing station issues and upgrade obsolete equipment
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A BS degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of engineering experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to support shift work during refueling outage, forced outages, and access industrial areas of a nuclear power plant
  • Ability to gain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant
Preferred Qualifications

Desirable skills and experience include:

  • Degree or experience in a mechanical, nuclear engineering, or technology discipline
  • 3+ years of Nuclear Power Plant experience
  • Experience in troubleshooting mechanical/mechanical systems issues
  • Experience with rotating equipment
  • Experience with vibration analysis
  • Experience in designing mechanical modifications to plant components and systems
