About This Job

PACU nurses, also known as recovery room nurses, care for patients recovering from anesthesia after surgery. They monitor vital signs, assess levels of consciousness, and observe patients for any side effects from anesthesia.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in the primary area of care is required.
  • An active license or appropriate accreditation in one of the 50 US states is necessary.
  • Further requirements and certifications may be requested by the specific facility/unit.
  • An enthusiastic spirit with a desire to help is essential.
