STATUS: Part-time
DEPARTMENT: Nursing
DIVISION: Academic Affairs
REPORTS TO: Simulation Specialist
CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt
MINIMUM PAY RATE: $14.00 per hour
(Position is FWS Eligible)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepare and maintain nursing classrooms for upcoming instructional sessions.
2. Manage inventory of supplies and communicate with administrative staff regarding procurement needs.
3. Ensure all classroom beds are made and linens are laundered as necessary throughout the semester.
4. Assist with clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, copying, typing, and document creation as requested.
5. Regularly organize and clean storage areas and classrooms.
6. Create simulated materials, including blood samples and displays for events related to classroom topics.
7. Transport mannequins, equipment, and supplies between classrooms and storage.
8. Collaborate with the simulation coordinator to develop necessary materials for student simulations.
9. Provide coverage in the tutoring lab during staff absences while supporting clinical classroom operations.
10. Assist management and clerical staff with classroom setups according to weekly instructional topics.
11. Prepare carts, assemble student packages, and create stations for special events such as skills testing and seminars.
12. Develop scenarios based on instructional materials for critical thinking exercises.
13. Acquire nursing terminology to effectively assist instructors in the classroom.
14. Welcome and assist students with inquiries or requirements.
15. Track work hours accurately and submit timesheets for payment processing.
16. Replenish supplies such as gloves and markers in classrooms on a weekly basis.
17. Perform additional related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum GPA of 2.5
2. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
3. Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
4. Professional appearance and demeanor.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Knowledge of medical terminology.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Typical office physical demands.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Duties are performed in a standard office environment.
Scheduled Weekly Hours: This is a student position that accommodates your class schedule, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic semesters. During breaks, hours may increase with supervisor approval.
