Position Overview

The role of the 3D Studio Instructor encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at fostering a safe and productive learning environment for students engaged in 3D design and fabrication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Training and Supervision: Oversee and mentor work-study students while managing the schedule for shop monitors in collaboration with faculty.
  • Safety Compliance: Address departmental safety issues to ensure adherence to Environmental Health & Safety, EPA, and OSHA standards.
  • Safety Training: Deliver safety instruction to students in partnership with faculty members.
  • Equipment Testing: Evaluate students on their proficiency in the safe operation of tools and the correct handling and storage of materials.
  • Inventory Management: Organize and oversee the inventory of tools and equipment within classroom and workshop settings.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Conduct repairs on equipment as necessary.
  • Work Orders: Submit requests for maintenance and repairs as required.
  • Tool Safety: Ensure all tools are maintained in safe, operational condition.
  • Supply Management: Identify and specify necessary supplies for safety, equipment repair, and maintenance of 3D labs and classrooms.
  • Expenditure Tracking: Coordinate supply orders and monitor spending for bulk materials.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the budget for 3D replacement parts and equipment.
  • Collaborative Projects: Work alongside faculty on special initiatives to organize, repair, and maintain all laboratory spaces.
  • Teaching Responsibilities: Instruct a maximum of two courses per semester in the 3D discipline, including two community courses each semester.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
