Job Summary

We are seeking a Quarry Supervisor for our plant in Cape Girardeau, MO. The successful candidate will oversee the activities of the Quarry Diesel Mechanics and Maintenance Mechanics, ensuring effective maintenance programs, housekeeping, and equipment repair.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the Quarry Diesel Mechanics and Maintenance Mechanics, implementing and maintaining preventative maintenance programs.
  • Assist the Quarry Superintendent in coordinating activities with other departments, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Direct drilling, blasting, stripping, and loading of limestone, maintaining and relocating Quarry access haul roads.
  • Maintain high equipment availability by communicating with the Maintenance Department and outside contractors.
  • Check storage facilities and assign loading and hauling tasks to ensure adequate limestone inventory.
  • Responsible for MSHA safety training and maintaining accident records, investigating incidents and near-misses.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and evaluate the activities of hourly employees, including weekly scheduling and payroll timekeeping.
  • Work with the blasting contractor, corporate mining engineer, and Quarry Superintendent to design, schedule, and monitor shots.
  • Function as a safety leader, demonstrating a personal commitment to working safely and eliminating work-related risks.
  • Achieve production goals, maintain records on equipment maintenance, cycle times, production targets, and budgeted cost targets.
  • Work with Quarry personnel to optimize and reduce costs through continuous improvement activities.
  • Supervise Quarry operations during the Quarry Superintendent's absence, working with them to develop short-range and annual objectives.
  • Establish and maintain communications within the department, ensuring effective communication with other departments.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in Mining or Geological Engineering or 5 years of mining experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of Quarry mining and crushing experience required; 5+ years of mine supervision experience preferred.
  • Union experience preferred.
