Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to adult inmates, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Administer medications, perform physical examinations, and develop care plans in accordance with established nursing guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Valid unrestricted Virginia RN license issued by the Board of Nursing or a multi-state compact license.
  • Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers with current certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
  • Working knowledge of evidence-based principles and practices of professional nursing and skills to perform assessment.
  • Demonstrated ability to make competent decisions, perform physical examinations, develop care plans, document provided services, and carry out prescribed orders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in accordance with dialogic practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a correctional medical setting.
