You will also collaborate with medical professionals to ensure optimal medication management and patient safety.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Examine prescriptions for accuracy, determine necessary components, and assess their appropriateness.
- Participate in a paid on-call rotation every third week.
- Educate patients on medication interactions, potential side effects, proper dosages, and safe storage practices.
- Dispense medications as directed, ensuring precise calculations and measurements, or supervise these processes.
- Maintain comprehensive records, including pharmacy documentation, patient profiles, inventory logs, and controlled substance registries.
- Develop and uphold protocols for the preparation, packaging, and labeling of pharmaceuticals in compliance with legal standards to guarantee quality and safety.
- Offer specialized services to assist patients in managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, smoking cessation, and hypertension.
- Administer immunizations and perform basic health assessments, including blood pressure and blood sugar checks.
- Work in conjunction with other healthcare professionals to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of medication therapies, providing insights on drug properties and applications.
- Monitor prescribing patterns to ensure patient adherence and mitigate risks of overuse or adverse interactions.
- Procure and manage pharmaceutical and medical supplies, ensuring proper storage and handling.
- Oversee patient medication regimens, recommend necessary interventions, and inform patients of any side effects.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Comply with all relevant legal regulations and procedures governing pharmacy practice.
- Exhibit regular and dependable attendance.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD Degree.
- Valid Pharmacist license in good standing.
- Current Immunization Certification from an accredited organization.
- Proficient in accurately processing medication orders in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
- Familiarity with federal and state pharmacy regulations, including HIPAA compliance.
- Exceptional customer service skills, demonstrating empathy towards patients.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- At least one year of experience as a pharmacist in a retail environment.
