The pediatric unit is a collaborative effort between Nicklaus Children's Hospital and a leading healthcare system, providing a vibrant and supportive environment for inpatient families. This unit features 15 general pediatric rooms and one outpatient room, with the capability to accommodate progressive and intensive care in select rooms. Our facility is designed to deliver high-quality care, equipped with advanced technology and a family-centered approach to treatment.

This position offers a unique chance for a dedicated candidate to thrive in a growing market. Ideal applicants will have a strong commitment to advocacy and enhancing care for all pediatric patients. Candidates should be board certified or board eligible in general pediatrics and possess specialized training in pediatric intensive care. The pediatric medical team will manage both standard floor patients and those requiring intensive care.

This is a permanent role that provides competitive compensation along with a comprehensive benefits package, including relocation assistance. The selected physician will join the Nicklaus Children's Pediatric Specialists team and will have opportunities to engage in quality improvement initiatives, academic pursuits, and research projects available to all team members.

Job Summary

This role primarily involves clinical responsibilities related to the assessment, treatment, and management of pediatric patients within a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, clinical scientists, and social workers. The position encompasses a diverse mix of general and high-acuity pediatric cases, along with opportunities for teaching and supervision of medical residents, as well as involvement in research and publication efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize knowledge of pediatric growth and development in patient interactions and treatment plans.
  • Engage in continuous self-education through journals, continuing medical education, and conferences.
  • Organize and deliver monthly in-services to address staff and resident development needs.
  • Oversee follow-up on tests, lab results, and patient communication.
  • Provide direct clinical services, including conducting history and physical examinations, interpreting patient data, developing treatment plans, and administering medications as necessary.
  • Offer suggestions for departmental improvements to the Department Director and attending staff.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives, research, and publishing efforts.
  • Serve as a mentor and educator for medical students and residents.
  • Participate in the assigned call schedule.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited institution.
  • Active state medical license in good standing.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification, maintained throughout employment.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong clinical, research, and teaching capabilities with a commitment to academic pediatrics.
