Job Title: Employee Health and Safety Specialist

At Murfreesboro Medical Clinic, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Employee Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for providing direct and indirect nursing care for employees by identifying risks and hazards, assessing health status, and promoting overall health and well-being within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and implement infection control and employee health orientation programs throughout the facility.
  • Assist with revising and updating policies and procedures related to infection control and employee health.
  • Make recommendations to the Director of HR regarding procedures for pre-employment and on-boarding processes for employees.
  • Participate in infection prevention and control education of all employees during orientation and annually thereafter.
  • Report all pre-employment testing and vaccination processes.
  • Keep current with CDC/TDH information and guidelines regarding infectious outbreaks.
  • Attend required meetings and report to all CODES.
  • Assist with employee testing for community-spread outbreaks.
  • Perform communicable disease exposure follow-up.
  • Provide consultation and education to staff, physicians, and leaders on Infection Prevention & Control.
  • Work closely with Human Resources to monitor employee work-related illness and injury trends.
  • Assess, develop, and implement strategies to prevent work-acquired injury or illness.
  • Document work-related injuries and file work comp claims.
  • Perform bloodborne pathogen exposure assessment, treatment, and follow-up.
  • Keep logs and documents required by OSHA.
  • Coordinate preventative screening programs.
  • Responsible for immunizations and TB skin tests given to MMC employees.
  • Notify the County and/or State Health Department of any reportable diseases.
  • Maintain and ensure confidentiality of employee information and medical records.
  • Act as an advocate for the rights of employees by ensuring access to preventative health and safety measures.
  • Document and follow up on all patient injuries.
  • Work with facilities management to ensure cleaning procedures support infection control standards.
  • Maintain all AEDs and perform monthly walk-throughs to check batteries.
  • Work with the Quality Committee to develop and implement continuously improved patient care procedures and control mechanisms.
Requirements:
  • Current licensure as an LPN.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' clinical experience in healthcare required.
