About the Role

Mass General Brigham is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Newton, Massachusetts.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, supporting the mission of the Pharmacy department by ensuring that patients receive the right medications in a safe and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Pharmacy team in ensuring accurate and efficient medication distribution
  • Develop a full understanding of the drug distribution system and demonstrate competency in carrying out all duties associated with delivering medications to patient care areas
  • Use Pyxis automated dispensing system and Meditech computer software to prepare IV admixtures, including chemotherapy
  • Assist in sterile compounding and assemble and prepare ingredients to manufacture IV Admixtures, small and large volume parenterals, irrigation solutions, skin tests, and other sterile dosage forms
  • Perform good customer service skills via telephone or in person at the Pharmacy window and while rounding on patient care areas
  • Perform monthly stock checks for expired medications and perform and record daily temperature checks of nursing unit refrigerators
  • Use Meditech information system to charge/credit/view sensitive patient data and adhere to HIPPA regulations regarding confidentiality and patient privacy
Requirements
  • High School diploma required
  • Training as a Hospital Pharmacy Technician strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with medical/drug terminology and abbreviations
  • Demonstrated ability to walk and stand 70% of the time and to lift up to 35 pounds
  • Must be exCPT or PTCB certified, or a registered pharmacy intern with the state of Massachusetts
  • Must be Registered with the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or Intern
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
