Environmental Steward

Under the direction of the Conservation Supervisor, the Conservationist 1 performs the following key responsibilities:

• Supervise, train, and evaluate Corpsmembers to ensure they meet the highest standards of conservation work.
• Teach, direct, and counsel Corpsmembers to enhance their skills and knowledge in conservation practices.
• Care for, maintain, and secure state equipment and property to ensure their optimal use and longevity.
• Recordkeeping and personnel administration to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.

This position reports to the Redding Center, located at 4900 Mountain Lakes Blvd. Suite A, Redding, CA. The working environment is characterized by mild winters and hot summers, requiring flexibility and adaptability.

• The position requires a drug screening to be passed prior to being hired.
• A background investigation must be cleared prior to being hired.

Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment will be required to complete the following pre-employment requirements prior to being appointed:

• Background Investigation – Undergo fingerprinting and successfully pass a Criminal Offender Record Information check completed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) which may or may not also include a background check through the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).
• Medical Exam – A medical clearance exam is required for this classification.
• Commercial Driver License – Provide evidence that a Commercial Class C license with a Passenger Transport Vehicle special endorsement, or equivalent, has been obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
• Pre-employment Drug Test – Pass a urine drug test.
