Job Summary

The Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to fill the role of HIV Prevention Counselor. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in promoting HIV prevention and education within our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement health education and risk reduction programs for target populations
  • Provide client-centered counseling and education sessions to promote healthy behaviors and prevent HIV transmission
  • Present HIV health education and prevention programs to diverse audiences, including drive-thru HIV testing and in-home HIV testing
  • Assist with client referrals for HIV testing and follow-up services
  • Document and enter client demographics into data systems
  • Promote outreach prevention activities within at-risk communities
Requirements
  • Completion of the following trainings: Fundamentals of HIV Prevention Counseling, Counseling, Testing and Referral, Client Centered Prevention Counseling, Outreach Techniques and Quality Assurance
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in an area of study considered relevant to job requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of peer educators manual and outreach techniques
  • Strong computer and desktop skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to enter client information into data systems
  • Ability to locate non-traditional outreach sites
