Job Summary

Assist furnace operators in the preparation of molds for loading and unloading into furnaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a tow motor to move alloy to the furnace from the crib and load molds into pre-heat ovens.
  • Load alloy charges onto and into the furnace.
  • Load molds into pre-heat kilns.
  • Unload molds from kilns into the furnace using a manipulator.
  • Unload molds from the furnace at 2300 degrees Fahrenheit to cooling carts.
  • Load molds into casting units.
  • Transfer molds from the foundry to the knockout.
  • Perform basic maintenance around the furnace (TPM).
  • Assist operators with furnace changeovers.
  • Clean furnaces using a PAPR unit.
  • Train to become an operator.
  • Help maintain machines when problems occur.
  • Perform 6S duties of the furnace and foundry.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures with an emphasis on safety.
  • Support foundry operators as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Experience: Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Certifications/Licenses: N/A.
  • Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Read, write legibly, basic math skills, good written communication skills, good verbal communication skills, good problem-solving skills.
Working Environment
  • Working Environment: Manufacturing/Factory environment.
  • Required PPE: Check for required PPE in areas you may be working in.
  • Safety Glasses: Needed in all areas of the plant.
  • Shoes/Boots: Steel-toed needed in all areas of the plant.
